Transparency at Verdade

Where Your Money Goes

We're a small nonprofit, and we believe our community deserves to understand how the resources entrusted to us are being used.

Verdade is intentionally building lean. Our current expenses are focused on maintaining the basic infrastructure we need to create educational resources, share stories, develop programs, connect with our community, and keep the organization running. As Verdade grows, we'll continue updating this page so our community can see how our needs and programs evolve.

Our Current Core Expenses

These are the basic recurring expenses that currently keep Verdade operating each month.

Verdade Studio & Program Space

$370 per month

More than an office, this is our physical home base for recording the Verdade Podcast, creating educational and social content, developing resources, meeting, and doing the behind-the-scenes work that supports our programs.

Microsoft & Technology

$75 per month

The technology that helps our team communicate, collaborate, securely manage the organization, and support our day-to-day work.

Hope Line

$10 per month

The Hope Line is a place to leave a little hope for someone who may need it. People can call and share a message of encouragement, reassurance, or simply something they wish someone else could hear. With permission, we share those messages through Verdade's social channels so one person's words can reach someone who needs them.

Website

~$17 per month

Our Wix website costs approximately $200 for two years, providing Verdade's primary online home for information, resources, programs, and community outreach.

Current Basic Operating Costs

Before additional program development, outreach, events, educational materials, and other growth-related expenses.

~$472 / month

Building Programs Leanly

We're applying the same approach to our programs: start with what we need, use donated resources when available, and grow thoughtfully.

Education

Verdade University

Verdade University is our growing educational platform for accessible learning around rare, invisible, and chronic illnesses.

Much of the infrastructure that currently powers the University is donated, helping us keep costs extremely low while we develop and expand our course offerings.

Basic infrastructure: approximately $150 per year.
Stories & Conversation

The Verdade Podcast

The Verdade Podcast creates space for real conversations, personal experiences, education, and voices from the rare, invisible, and chronic illness community.

Our initial recording setup was built for approximately $500, with much of the equipment donated. Future expenses will include occasional equipment additions, guest microphones, and improvements as the podcast grows.

Initial equipment investment: approximately $500.
